Where are we on the map?

While most of us may know where our country is located geographically, the kids from our program may find this question difficult to answer while others may limit their knowledge to the Americas.

Thinking of creative ways to teach kids geography and have them learn more about our world, the idea of painting a mural came alive.

By having a world map plastered on a wall, kids can easily learn where they are on the map, the countries where volunteers come from and learn geography in a fun and creative way --not to mention, it gives color to a white and boring wall.

The project has turned out to be a bit ambitious but definitely an enjoyable challenge. We are half way done but we are so excited about what has been accomplished thus far that we wanted to share some photos showing the progress.

1st Step: paint white base
2nd Step: create grids to give reference points
3rd Step: draw world map
4th & most fun step: paint in each country different color

Expect to see an update with photos of our final steps and end result but for now we hope you enjoy the post and share your comments.

Special thanks to Max and Carolina (Berenice's daughter) for their help.
