It's not disorganized just chaotic in an organized way

If you have voluntered with us you probably know I am referring to our Manos Amigas library's organized chaos.  Some of the cost of volunteering goes to providing educational materials for libraries at each of our centers (Huellas de Amor, San Jose & Manos Amigas).  Thanks to this fund and also to donations from former volunteers, we are lucky to have our library stock with most of what we need, the key is finding it.

As much as some of us like to believe that an organized chaos is an expression of creativity and not just the placement of things or lack there off, truth be told organization is important, particularly when working with kids and trying to instill in them good habits.  It also makes for volunteers' work be more efficient and less frustrating when searching for teaching resources.

So in line with that thought, I began the task of organizing our library's chaos a few weeks ago.  The goal was to create sections for subjects, discard outdated books, make a list of guides and books we dont have but we need and give a place to all supplies and kids materials such as work journals, pen, pencils, markers, erasers, scissors, paper, art supplies, etc.

After a few days and long evenings of cleaning and reshuffle I'm glad to report it's all done.  Now, the hope is that we make it last. Special thanks to Liliana (afternoon teacher for Manos Amigas) and our current volunteer Holly for their help.

Below are a few photos of our new look. Would have loved to show you some before and after shots; unfortunately, the before shots were lost in the shuffle. What's the irony? lol

If you would like to donate supplies or help us stock our library with a monetary donation, please send us an email for instructions on how to donate. Thank you in advance for your support.
