Foreign Cultural Exchange Day!

Let's learn about England...

A few weeks ago, one of our in-house volunteers proposed the idea of having a day for cultural exchange.  The idea (which had previously been done once but left forgotten) focused on giving kids the opportunity to know where volunteers come from and learn more about their country's culture, language, traditional food, geographical setting, sports and overall general information.

Yesterday, our first monthly presentation took place.  Holly Wheeler and Max Serjeant talked about their home land, England.  Over 75 kids from all three centers: Huellas de Amor, San Jose and Manos Amigas gathered together for a two-hour cultural exchange.  During this time, kids were able to learn about England, participate in some fun activities and create their own take-home England flag and crown souvenirs.

Although getting such large crowd of energetic kidsto hold still proved to be somewhat chaotic, it was an exciting and educational day --one we we hope to repeat again next month.

Next presentation will be United States.
