Happy Halloween! |
Throughout the week teachers and volunteers worked together to create a master event where kids' fun was the primary focus. Jimena, our dance teacher taught and practiced a "Thriller" performance with two centers. Ren, our art teacher dedicated his art classes to the making of masks. Volunteers worked individually to create halloween decorations while Yamile movilized her contacts to help with sound, location, snacks and entertainment.
Thanks to everyone's combined effort, over 200 kids combined were able to enjoy an official morning and afternoon Halloween party without having to pay the regular COP5,000 fee charged at school. Aside from scary and cute customs, kids enjoyed time in a bouncy house (courtesy of the San Jose Police department), face paiting, puppet and dancing show, honor presentations and birthday celebrations all accompany with delicious cake and loads of fun.
The event was a true success! Below are some of our favourite photos so that you too share in the fun. Enjoy!

Special recognition to Yamile for her efforts in putting this event together. Fair to say, none of this could have been done without her help. It was thanks to her local connections we were able to get sponsorship for location, food and the personalized entertainment we had from our local Police department.
Thank you Yami --you rock!!!
